Producer The Cool believes African music should connect people across borders, oceans, and distinct cultures. That exact vision is at the center of his new album, Made In Africa, which officially dropped today on Africa Day alongside the single “Mama Africa.” Speaking about the album, the creator explained that the music was created with listeners across the entire continent in mind. He describes the project as a vital bridge between historical African culture and modernization.
The artist shared that the sound needed to resonate in Johannesburg, Lagos, Kampala, Nairobi, Lusaka, Maputo, Maseru, and Gaborone. The album highlights the life of an African man embracing his culture while living in a global village. It explores themes including identity, unity, struggle, prayer, motherhood, and money. The song “Mama Africa” introduces listeners to the celebratory and energetic direction of the project, combining dance rhythms with heritage.
The album opens with a traditional clan chant layered over orchestral instrumentation, creating a symbolic connection between heritage and modern sound. The project then moves into “Money,” a track focused on ambition, followed by the emotional lyrics of “Mama Pray For Me.” From there, the artist transitions into “Qina Mfo,” translated as “Stay strong, son of Dube.” The album later shifts into dance mode with “Jika” and “Money 2.0” before closing with “Cape to Cairo,” an anthem celebrating resilience.
