Trevor Dongo

Trevor Dongo is a popular Zimbabwean RnB musician. He rose to fame in 2001 during the Urban Grooves era as several young hip-hop and RnB musicians popularised local music targeted at young people.

Roki

Rockford Josphat is a versatile musician, song writer, and dancer who among other artistes popularized the Urban Grooves genre in the New Millennium. Fondly known as Roki, the controversial but talented artist made a name when he featured on Leonard Mapfumo’s hit song ‘Seiko’ which topped the charts in the early 2000s.

Ex Q

EX-Q is an Urban Grooves artist who rose to fame in 2000 after releasing his hit song ‘Musalala’. From then onwards, EX-Q has been a force to reckon with, releasing singles and some of those singles include ‘Pandakakuona’, ‘Ndichakutevera’, ‘Mazirudo’ and ‘Tezvara varamba’. He has also done many collaborations with other Urban Grooves artists such as Roki, Tererai Mugwadi, Stunner and Extra Large.

Sani Makhalima

Sanii Makhalima is a popular multi talented Zimbabwean singer, songwriter and producer. Sanii is also among the pioneers of the Urban Grooves genre in Zimbabwe.

Cindy Munyavi

Cindy Rufaro Munyavi (Born November 24, 1984), is a Zimbabwean singer, songwriter known mostly for her tracks Parere Moyo Ndidzorere Moyo Wangu. She has been doing music since early 2000s. Apart from her music career, Cindy is also a budding businesswoman. She entered the music industry with the release of her album in 2006 which was titled Kukuda/Loving you.

Maskiri

Maskiri is an award-winning Zimbabwean rapper/musician who came to the limelight at the turn of the century with hits such as Tambudzai and Zverudo Zvaramba. Controversy has always followed the talented rapper as he has had his music banned due to it containing explicit lyrics for Zimbabwean listeners.

Decibel

Decibel is a popular reggae dancehall artiste who popularized Urban Grooves music in Zimbabwe. Crowned King of Zimbabwe Urban Grooves at one point, his music became so popular that his first single ‘Nakai’ went to number one in the first two weeks of its release.

David Chifunyise

David Chifunyise is a popular Zimbabwean musician and one of the pioneers of Urban Grooves music. Chipfunyise rose to prominence in the New Millennium with a western influenced sound that was well received by the youth. His hit Tauya Naye propelled him to national stardom. He is also the CEO of Cybercard.

Extra Large

Extra Large is an Urban Grooves music group of two members, Jimmy Mangezi and Norman Manwere. They are mostly known for their early day’s songs Uri Roja and Wafa Wanaka. The duo performed Uri Roja with Judah E. Extra Large have reportedly released more than 10 albums.

Plaxedes Wenyika

Plaxedes Wenyika real name Plaxedes Machuma is a Zimbabwean R’n’B singer and songwriter. She is one of the pioneers of the Urban Grooves music genre. She made her debut in 2002 with the album ‘Tisaparadzane’ which made waves and saw the title track topping the local charts.
